A new hybrid popcorn variety, Iowa 4258, is being introduced in Iowa. Tests to date indicate some superiortiy to Iopop 6 and that the new hybrid can be grown wherever Iopop 6 can be grown sucessfully.

The 1958 recession passed in Iowa leaving few aftereffects. This was the boon of being an agricultural and light-industry state rather than one of heavy industry. As everywhere, the slow-down allowed deadwood to be cut out of commercial concerns and started a new drive for efficient operation.
