Strange as it seems, Christmas did not originate in Christianity. It was first a pagan holiday called Saturnalia, which was a celebration of the coming of longer days.
Christmas trees bring in the yuletide spirit. But wherever one is placed-on the street, in the store or in the home-the decorating of it should show individuality.
Merry Modern went Christmas shopping at the request of the Iowa Homemaker. Perhaps she was a little ahead of her time, but that is a good failing. She was in search of cosmetics.
Christmas candies! The words call forth a host of memories filled with Yuletide cheer. Remember the fun of making the delicious dainties?
Betty Taylor, president of W. A. A. at Iowa State College, is also president of the North Central District of A. F. C. W. This position entitles her to a counselor's seat on the National Board of A. F. C. W. The council meets this year in Minneapolis.
Betty is the first W. A. A. president since the new club system has been installed. Not only does she supervise W. A. A., but also takes an active part in basketball, baseball, volleyball, hiking and Jeck tennis.
