Each year, every farmer is up against the problem of choosing the best crop rotation for his farm.
Iowa farmers are getting along with less and less hired labor-through constantly increasing mechanization, newer and more efficient farming methods, and because of strong competition of urban employment opportunites for potential farm workers.
The defense program still is in the build-up stage. On April 1, we were two-thirds of the way from the rate of mid-1950 to the peak rates now scheduled for the military program as a whole. Some items are farther along than others.
Lespedeza has a special value as a pasture legume in southern Iowa. It permits a quick and easy method of increasing the productivity of thin pasture sods too rough and broken or eroded to be renovated.
