Take heart, all Foresters, if an environmentalist/forester such as I sounds pessimistic about the future that can only suggest that there is much yet to do.

Over the past year the student chapter of SAF has continued with our strong tradition of supporting special events such as, educational activities, free seedling distributions, and tree plantings. We have also tried to form stronger ties with the state chapter through better attendance at state meetings and the development of the Student Mentor Program.

The Forestry Club Christmas tree plantation was very demanding on the time, and the bodies, of those who helped in this past years' activities. The Club worked very hard to reach the goals we set for the plantation. These goals were to replenish our stock of firewood, and clear more ground to expand the tree planting area.
