The December 1 Pig Crop Report contained good news for hog producers. It showed 4 percent fewer hogs producers. It showed 4 percent fewer hogs and pigs on farms than a year earlier. The 1963 fall pig crop of 42.8 million head was also 4 percent smaller than the 1962 fall crop. The fall pig crop plus the spring pig crop makes a U.S. total 1963 pig crop of 93 million head. This was 1 percent less than the 1962 pig crop.
