Does your family really enjoy and use its living room, or does the dining room serve as an everyday substitute? We've all seen living rooms that don't seem to be "lived in" very much. Part of this may be just habit- but sometimes theere are other reasons too.
Ladino clover is a giant cousin of the white clover so common in most permanent pastures and in many lawns. Farmers have been asking about it. Is it reccomended for Iowa? Where does it grow well- where doesn't it?
Driving through the state this fall you wouldn't get the impression that the corn borer was putting Iowa out of the tall corn business. We've had two record crops in Iowa since the corn borer first appeared in 1942. Even though corn borers had spread through every county in the state by 1948, the damage wasn't crippling. The answer is that we've been able to control the borer fairly well.
Shortages of other building materials have stepped up the use of aluminum on farm buildings for roofing and siding. And it's a satisfactory material- if properly used.
Heavy marketings of short-fed cattle put pressure on the late fall and early winter market. Late winter and spring cattle price outlook depends a lot on what happens to the general business situation. Farmers had a record number of cattle on feed Jan 1.
