Abstract
This project aims to design and develop a new miter saw alternative that addresses the common issues faced by woodworkers using traditional miter saws. Through research, ideation, and prototyping phases, a new design was created that features a linear sliding blade mechanism for increased cutting accuracy, sacrificial MDF surface to reduce tear-out, impressive crosscut and miter capacities, and enhanced safety features. The resulting product offers a viable solution to improve the cutting performance and safety of miter saws, making it an attractive option for woodworking professionals and hobbyists alike. The project also includes an abbreviated business case that justifies the product's pricing and marketability. Overall, this project showcases the value of user-centered design and iterative development in creating innovative solutions for real-world problems.
