dc.description.abstract | Women have been an increasingly important part of the non-farm, non-household labor force for nearly a century. This proposal will attempt to answer the question, “what are some covariates that have led to a somewhat sizeable difference socially and geographically in women’s labor force participation across the United States during the 20 & 21st centuries?”. The emphasis of this proposal and the regressions will mainly be applied to childcare costs, but there will be inclusions of variables that have been seen in past literature. Additional variables will include AGE, RACE, SEX, EMPSTAT (employment status), EDUC (education), and a monthly childcare cost from a monthly survey. To analyze these effects, linear regressions are theorized on individual and state levels. The hope is to build upon previous literature and form a foundation for future analysis. | |
