dc.description.abstract <p>The use of ultrasonic velocity measurements to determine the texture (preferred grain orientation) of metal plates has been the subject of considerable recent interest. The foundation for these procedures lies in the mathematical description of texture, in which the crystallite orientation distribution function (CODF) is expanded as a series of spherical harmonics.</p>
