Abstract
Abstract This paper discusses how wearable fitness trackers or smartwatches have redefined the fitness industry by transforming the customer experience by highlighting data collection. The main categories of discussion will be aimed at first defining customer experience and how it pertains to smartwatches. The following sections will introduce the various kinds of data collected and how each category provides a different experience for the user. Finally, a discussion of data security and privacy will be addressed to further the importance of maintaining a positive customer experience to aid in the success of the fitness industry. A thorough literature analysis will be performed, followed by a discussion of the findings.
