dc.description.abstract
Corn earworm (Heliothis zea-Boddie) is one of the most destructive pestsof soybeans (Glycine max [L.] Merrill). Cultural practices, since early days, have been known to play an important role in controlling insect pests in various crops. Some researchers have observed that soybeans with closed canopy escape corn earwonn damage (Dietz et al., 1976) but recent reports from extension entomologists in Maryland are contrary to this effect.
