Abstract
The objective of this study is to compare optimal interception trajectories to representative samples of NEO's (near-Earth objects) for a case where the warning time is less than one year. Trajectories for high-thrust chemical engines using impulsive thrusting and trajectories for low-thrust nuclear electric engines are to be considered. Also, the minimum velocity increment to divert the threatening object from its current collision path is to be studied.
