Abstract
Traditionally we have observed a positive correlation between industry growth and standard of living increases in the developed world and in most cases, the developing world. With current trade liberalization sweeping the globe this is no longer the case in developing counries. Population and unemployment are on the rise as real wages and standards of living are declining. The United States Foreign Assistance Act promotes these declines with problematic assistance packages which fail to offer contraception and education; thus, perpetuating the needs and the problems in these developing countries. This essay promotes a theoretically and substantively holistic aid package which not only includes basic necessities, but offers education and contraception. As well, several theories and variables are introduced into the overpopulation equation to promote a thorough understanding of one of the most serious dilemnas facing the globe.
