dc.description.abstract Although diagnosis is a popular application of expert systems, no expert system has been developed in the failure diagnosis of cold bending for metal tube products. This thesis presents the development of an expert system, based on OBJECT LEVELS, for diagnosing failures and defects in tube bending production. This thesis focuses on COLD bending for precision TUBING (not piping) products. Also, theoretical analysis of tube bending, tool/die selection, and determination of bending factors are involved in this thesis. The expert system developed will be used by the industrial partner to assist the decision-making during the tube bending production.
