Abstract
Profit-based load management is introduced to examine its value from both the corporations' and customers' perspective. Hopefully, with redefinition, load management will become a more applicable tool employed by corporations in the new paradigm. In addition, scheduling models are developed for DLC and ESS on the basis of gross input/output relationships. Since the devices used in ESS ranges from small-scale electric pumps to large-scale hydro pumped storage, full coverage of all appliances would be time consuming. To illustrate the effect of integrating both DLC and ESS, only certain ESS appliances need to be considered. On the basis of its technological advancement during the past few years, a battery energy storage system (BESS) is used as a prototype for the current work. By integrating both DLC and ESS, the current work reflects the possibility that all utilities can fully use the load management strategies that they have developed.
