Abstract
This study was carried out to determine the effect of using constant head as the boundary condition at the well screen on aquifer parameter estimation from a constant-head pumping test. A 3-D numerical model was used. Traditionally, in a numerical model, flowrate is used as the boundary condition. In addition, the effects of well storage and that of using effective well radius on parameter estimation were also studied. Results obtained from using constant head as the boundary condition were compared with those obtained from analytical and the traditional numerical models. The comparison indicates that reliable estimates of aquifer parameters can be obtained by using constant head as the boundary condition.
