Abstract
Numerous refrigerant and lubricant combinations have been in use for many years and their miscibilities are well known. But many of these common refrigerants are being phased out of production due to their propensity to harm the ozone in the atmosphere. New, environmentally safe refrigerants are being introduced, but many of their properties when mixed with lubricants are not known. With this in mind, miscibility tests were performed on refrigerant-lubricant mixtures for refrigerant concentrations of 10%, 50% and 95% by weight. Since only three concentrations were tested for each mixture, there is not enough information to allow interpolation for concentrations between the concentrations tested. These results were meant to provide a first look at the miscibility of certain refrigerant-lubricant mixtures. Further testing should be done for concentrations other than the three completed here.
