Abstract

ams/preserves, jellies, and fruit butters can be prepared at home and sold directly to the consumer (face to face), or at farmers’ markets in the state of Iowa by home based food operators. Producers can do this without a food license, kitchen inspection, or annual fee if their products meet the Standard of Identity outlined in the Food and Drug Administration Code of Federal Regulations, specifically 21 CFR Part 1501 for standard recipes, and the definition of non-Temperature Control for Safety (non-TCS) food from the FDA Food Code.
