Abstract

Hydroxychloroquine is a drug used primarily to treat malaria, but in the 2020 pandemic, the drug caught the world's attention to treat the novel virus, SARS-CoV-2. Because of the drug's mechanism, research that started in China and France spread to the world and is still being studied. Questions remain as to whether hydroxychloroquine is a breakthrough or a flash in the pan. A literature review summarizes hydroxychloroquine research in various methods to help understand and answer the question.
