dc.description.abstract How the news frames a story about a person and a place can easily shape their audience’s idea of those people and places. This paper presents an extensive literature review on framing theory, stereotyping, and the representation of Puerto Rico. It explores the role of framing theory in shaping public perceptions and attitudes towards Puerto Rico, examining how media portrayals and narratives influence stereotypes. Additionally, the paper discusses the importance of accurate and inclusive representation of Puerto Ricans in media and its potential impact on challenging stereotypes. As a creative component project, the paper presents the development of a digital magazine called Bori Magazine, targeted towards Puerto Ricans, aiming to provide a platform for authentic stories, diverse perspectives, and cultural celebrations. This project seeks to contribute to Puerto Ricans’ empowerment and positive representation in the digital landscape.
