The anti-hunting movement--the people involved, their attitude development, and implications for wildlife management

Abstract

<p>Hunting in the United States has been assumed to be a right of the people (Cain 1962). Recently, more people have begun to challenge that assumption (Trainer 1976) as well as the desirability of hunting as a sport. Public sentiment against hunting has increased in the past few years (Applegate 1975). The main objectives of this study are to explain the formation of anti-hunting attitudes and their implications for wildlife management.</p>
