Abstract
While the relationship between forgiveness and physical health is an established area of research, there is little known about how forgiveness interventions can impact physical health. Current research in this area focuses on health-specific groups, looking at how forgiveness interventions can alleviate symptoms associated with certain ailments. However, there is little to no research on whether or not forgiveness interventions impact the physical health of a generally healthy population. The current study examines how forgiveness interventions impact physiological responses when one recalls a past hurt. Physiological measurements were taken from individuals both at the start and at the completion of their participation in a forgiveness intervention study. Measurements were taken during a Mental Arithmetic task and a Hurt Recall Task. No statistically significant interactions between physical health outcomes and forgiveness interventions were found.
