dc.description.abstract Environmental monitoring of an aquaculture systems by computer should accurately measure and record the following system water characteristics: dissolved oxygen (D.O.), aeration system pressure, temperature, total ammonia concentration (TAC), pH, flow rate, nitrates, water level and salinity. The most difficult characteristic to control an monitor is total ammonia concentration (TAC). The focus then, of this study was the development and evaluation of an ammonia monitoring system. The other characteristics (temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH and flow rate) were also monitored. The other characteristics (nitrates, salinity, aeration system pressure and water level) were not monitored due to the lack of time and analytical funds.
