dc.description.abstract | This portfolio serves as a testament to my scholarly development and comprises three final projects from my program. These projects were carefully selected to showcase my most substantive work, encompassing a range of topics that captured my intellectual curiosity and will continue to guide my future endeavors. The first chapter of my portfolio is titled “Space Between Family: Post-Family Singularity in 2001: A Space Odyssey” and is based initially on a paper I wrote during my undergraduate program at Iowa State, focusing on the relationship between space technology and the family in Stanley Kubrick’s film and Arthur C. Clarke’s book both titled 2001: A Space Odyssey, yet now looking at the film with Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. The second chapter of my portfolio consists of my essay “The Making of Fanny Price: Environment’s Effect on Female Feelings in Mansfield Park.” The third chapter of my thesis then contains my final project for Dr. Brandon Sams’ course on the teaching of English literature. | |
