dc.description.abstract <p>Metal Matrix Composites (MMCs) can have many attractive properties including high specific modulus and strength, high temperature performance, and the ability to be tailored to specific applications. However, due to the mismatch in the coefficients of thermal expansion between the reinforcement and matrix, residual stresses can develop due to processing or in-service conditions.</p>
