Abstract
With the rapid e-economy boom, adult education is becoming more and more important than ever. As ever-changing technology requires a dynamic learning space, computer and media education should be organized in flexible and vivid workgroup in order to allow students and instructors to exchange and share information more efficiently. This project is a learning center for information technology, located at the Research Park of Iowa State University. The purposes of this design were to explore the possibilities of integrating information technology into each stage of the design process, from schematic design to design development stages, in order to re-define the characters of the learning environment. The emphasis of this thesis is on developing a new type of architectural and space program that is driven by information technology. In order to explore the stimulus thataffects human living environments and learning behaviors, the movement of users and information interface between users and machines became the subject matter of the research. Computer-generated animation was a study tool to facilitate the design process. The generated architecture here is a bridge between the social and digital world. It is also the interface between students and instructors, between different user groups, as well as between humans and technology.
