dc.description.abstract <p>Many of Iowa’s pioneers came from regions where trees were an established part of the landscape. Naturally their first thought was to surround the home with trees and secure protection from them. No doubt this led the Federal Government early in 1873 to pass the Timber Culture Act.</p>
