dc.description.abstract | <p>Forced Chemical Vapor Infiltration (FCVI) method was used in fabricating the Nicalon™/Silicon Carbide composites. Both through-thickness and In-plane (fiber fabric plane) moduli were determined using ultrasonic techniques. The through-thickness moduli were found to be much less than the inplane moduli. Both in-plane and through-thickness moduli were significantly decreased with an increased porosity. The experimental results for the moduli were found to be in good agreement with a theoretical model.</p> | |
