Abstract
A basic knowledge of the nutritional requirements of the bitch from the time of conception until the weaning of her pups is essential to anyone interested in raising healthy dogs. As with all types of livestock, the products of any planned breeding program can be no better than their environment permits. To fully develop genetic potentialities, the nutritional aspects of the environment must be carefully considered.
