dc.description.abstract Problem Statement: --Corn Head Auger Installation: Within the Corn Head Auger Installation process, the augers can be installed in a way that causes the augers to be out-of-sync with their timing. The couplers that are used at the joints between the two wing and center augers are installed incorrectly onto the Hex Shaft. If this problem is found after installation during “start-up”, it is a nuisance to tear down and rework. If this problem is found after it gets to the customer, the customer is dissatisfied, the company must spend time and money to fix the problem, and reputation could be hurt. --Hinged Draper Auger Installation: On the Hinged Draper Auger installation process, there is an issue with pairing the motor sub-assembly to the correct side of the two inward-spinning augers. If the sub-assemblies are switched, the motors will spin in incorrect directions. The current control in place for this step is for the operator to look at the auger’s flight direction to know which motor & bracket sub-assembly to put on the auger. If this problem is found after installation during “start-up”, it is a nuisance to tear down and rework. If this problem is found after it gets to the customer, the customer is dissatisfied, the company must spend time and money to fix the problem, and reputation could be hurt.
