Abstract

<p>Inside your doorway <br />What treasure is there? <br />Wide open fireplace, <br />A straight Windsor chair, <br />Bayberry candles,<br />And teacups of blue, <br />An old-fashioned spinet <br />Whose tone is still true * * *</p> <p>Thus someone wrote of her tiny white dream house, with its "shiny knocker of brass," its "quaint dormer windows and slant roof of green," its "hollyhocks, and all the little things" that make su-ch a dream house. But no such dream house could be perfect without rag rugs, and though the poet doesn't mention them, they are there, the oval crocheted one in front of the wide-open fireplace, the fat, round, braided one beside that straight Windsor chair, and all the others, some gay, some gray, silk or wool or cotton.</p>
