Abstract

Leptospirosis is an important disease problem, both in animals and in man. Since the causative organism Leptospira icterohemorrhagiae and Leptospira canicola may be transferred from a dog to its owner, or vice versa, early diagnosis is essential. The clinical picture, although suggestive, is commonly nonspecific, but final diagnosis must be made by laboratory methods.
