Abstract

Henderson Products manufacturing has multiple large laser cutting tables with parts of various weights and sizes that require the operators to climb/crawl on the table to remove parts. Operators have an elevated risk of back and shoulder strains due to lifting and/or stretching to remove parts from the center of the table. Seven injuries have been recorded in this area over the past two years. This creates employee downtime due to injury, not to mention the risk of legal implications. Very few options exist that are not completely automated. Our goal and solution are a tool that can be used on all sizes of tables and completely remove the need for an employee to climb onto a table and increase the risk of injury.
