dc.description.abstract
Reports from across the state by Iowa State University Extension field specialists-crops strongly suggest that the European corn borer is not causing much concern in field corn. There were no reports of fields approaching economically damaging levels. There is, however, still the potential for damage to occur. Steve Spangler (Monsanto Company) reports very large captures of moths in a light trap near Atlantic. On several nights during June 7-14, his trap collected more than 900 moths per night. Fields should be scouted through the first week of July.
