Regardless of when a case of tuberculosis may actually have developed, it must be counted in public health reports as a new case the first year it is reported to the State Department of Health. 342 cases of tuberculosis were thus reported to us during the first eleven months of 1963. For the year 1960, 444 new cases were reported to us during the first eleven months of 1963. In the year 1961 the number had dropped to 300 and in 1962 the total stood at 297, the lowest number of cases on record.
