dc.description.abstract <p>"It is only for those who walk with kings," Rudyard Kipling once said of ice cream in the early days. Far from being sold at every drug store, confectionery and restaurant, and being enjoyed by everyone, as it is today, ice cream was once a great luxury, of which only the royal families could partake. The secret of this pleasing dish was jealously guarded by the members of the royalty, as they seemed to think that such a food was not for common people, but for them alone. It was never meant that this delicacy should be for the few, and today it is found as a universal food.</p>
