Abstract

Iowans harvest and feed large amounts of hay each year. Between 1940 and 1950, an average of 3 1/2 million acres of hay were harvested in Iowa each year. The average annual yield of all hay harvested during this same period was nearly 5 1/2 million tons. What happens to this hay?
