Abstract

A new, standardized process had dramatically increased the number of applications to Iowa State University's College of Veterinary Medicine last year. "Our college received over 1800 applications for the Class of2000, of which over 1700 met the requirements for admission," said Dr. Eldon Uhlenhopp, Associate Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine. The college had the third highest number of qualified applicants in the nation in 1995. A total of898 applications were received with 690 meeting the admission requirements (the college accepts about 100 students each year). Last year, the college had the highest number of qualified applicants in the nation.
