Abstract
“Design for Inspectability” has been a goal for the past couple of decades in those industries where nondestructive evaluations are expected to contribute to the full economic life-cycle of components and systems. During this same period, analytical and computer modeling tools available to designers have seen tremendous advancements. While design for inspectability is more important than ever and lifetime assessment strategies are highly dependent on the efficient implementation of nondestructive evaluations (NDE), integration of advanced analytical tools for NDE is only now being considered in the designer’s tool kit.
