Personal Project Management in Theory and Practice

Abstract

PERSONAL PROJECTS ARE SETS OF TASKS, RELATED TO AN INDIVIDUAL’S personal life or work responsibilities, managed by the individual responsible for completing them. Information professionals, including those in the technical services units of libraries, often use information-organization skills to manage work-related personal projects and tasks. Many would not consider this “work about work,” or metawork, to be a form of project management. However, the methodologies of formal project management (PM)—along with the theories of personal information management (PIM) and personal task management (PTM)—inform the practice of personal project management (PPM).
