Abstract
Maybe I felt a desire to hold on to magazines and
scientific journals subliminally from my mother, who spent
her career working at a public library in the Chicago
suburb where I grew up, or perhaps it was from my
stint staffing a small research library while a student
at Michigan State University. In any case, by the time I
moved out of a home that my late wife and I lived in for
nearly 20 years, my magazine collection was massive.
At that time, I parted with many, but had numerous
connections with The American Chestnut Foundation
(TACF) that I've maintained my Journal collection, until
now. As I gradually move toward retirement, I have been
downsizing my office and felt that the time was right to
donate my collection of past issues to the Parks Library
at Iowa State University so it can be more broadly used.
