For the purpose of ascertaining what plants can be grown in Iowa to come into use between clover and corn, and furnish succulent feed in the usually dry months of July and August, we have sought widely for leguminous plants suited to our climate and soil conditions. Up to this time we have had most success with several varieties of peas sown with oats.

The peas that have succeeded well with us and that have been free from mildews and other forms of disease, are eight varieties, as follows: The Egyptian, Potter, Scotch Green, Green Field, Rennie’s No. 10, White Marrowfat, Golden Vine, and Black-Eyed Marrowfat.
