Abstract
The Wildlife Discovery Center in Lake Forest, IL is a living natural history museum where people can learn about wildlife conservation and environmental stewardship. The center houses a diverse array of different animal species such as sloths, bobcats, and komodo dragons. To enhance the educational experience of visitors to the center, I spent the summer of 2019 taking photographs of each animal housed at the center and assembling factual information pertaining each animal’s background and care. All of this information was used to create binders that were subsequently made available to center visitors. I compiled an educational binder for each of the five different areas of the center where animals were housed. The overall goal of my honors project was to help teach people about the beauty of exotic creatures and how places like the Wildlife Discovery Center are needed not only to educate people about protecting the environment but also to reduce the likelihood of more animal species becoming extinct.
