dc.description.abstract	<p>In Iowa, local food is turning heads and returning profits. We gathered these stories featuring some of Iowa's local food champtions in action to illustrate a few examples of how regional and local food systems are being built in Iowa. All were produced as part of an evaluation of the Regional Food Systems Working Group, or RFSWG, by the Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture. (Download the full 2012 Economic Impacts report or the two-page impact brief connected to these stories.) Like the economic data collected by RFSWG members throughout the state, these profiles are not visions of how a local food system could work but concrete examples of how local food systems are already working in Iowa. Most of the profiles were written by Leopold Center program assistant Arlene Enderton, who helped compile data for the report.
