Abstract
This M.S. Creative Component reflects the “Master of Science – Teacher Certification” master’s degree program housed in Iowa State University Department of Agriculture Education and Studies. When I think about my time at Iowa State, I am most thankful for the faculty and staff in the Agricultural Education department. They helped me grow as a graduate student, researcher, scholar, and future secondary high school agricultural education teacher. Over the last couple of years, Iowa has seen a huge amount of growth of students at the secondary level enrolling in agricultural education classes since Iowa is rich in agriculture. There is going to be a high demand for agricultural education teachers in the next three to five years. This master’s program serves as a great resource for agriculture-related undergraduates who want to pursue and receive a teaching certification in high school agricultural education. When I reflect about my master’s program, I grew the most in the areas of educational psychology, the ability to identify diverse student learning needs, the application of experiential learning activities, and the creation of curriculum that showcases students’ evidence of learning in the classroom.
