Abstract
As the digital footprint of organizations expands, website design has become a crucial focus point for many. While often underlooked by the mass, websites prove to be one of the most effective forms of traffic drivers that help organizations not only connect with their clients, customers, and stakeholders but also draw towards what they have to offer in a more immersive way than most forms of current content distribution models tend to. Out of 8.5 billion google searches every day, over 4 billion end up on websites that search engines populate for users. This is separate from users who bypass search engines and go straight to the URL (Uniform Resource Locator) they already know. Besides functionality, proper design is a key component of engaging a user on a website or through a mobile application. Yet, a few studies have attempted to define the specific elements required to create effective websites and mobile applications. This meta-analysis will also highlight the specific design elements that the specific study highlighted to gain a holistic understanding of the important aspects of a website. The primary elements of website design and how they affect user experience and engagement across multiple platforms are investigated in this literature review.
