Abstract
Seed priming has a long-standing history in vegetable and specialty crop species but is far less common in row crop plants. This educational project’s objective is to explain the basics of seed priming to the row crop production community of students, farmers, and extension offices. There have been many published scientific research trials on the subject of seed priming dating back to the early 1960’s. While the first general documentation of seed priming occurred in the early B.C. era. These papers have been reviewed to compile information into an educational document on the subject of seed priming.
The final project covers the history, objective, and different methods of seed priming. Resulting in the current seed priming industry and the possibilities of row crop species utilizing such practices. This project is presented to the row crop community as an opportunity to further grow seed priming practices as the world’s environment and global food needs continue to put pressure farmers production.
