Abstract
Philosophy and Graphic Design, investigates the influential effect of the personal philosophies of prominent designers upon the visual form of several historical movements in graphic design history, including Futurism, Constructivism, New Wave and Deconstructivism. The literature search establishes the distinctive visual forms of each movement, while the thesis statement that "Philosophy drives design," is proven in a series of project statements which can be used as assignments to teach a class on the subject.
