Abstract
The research presented is a single case study of an individual artist who has been using her art to address social issues for many years. Using this approach, I have been able to understand her experiences as an artist, how her practice has developed in terms of the issues she chooses to address and the manner in which she addresses them, and the development of her relationships to individuals and communities associated with her goals of social change. Through an examination of this artist's experiences and reflections, my goal is to bring some clarity to the role an artist may have in a process of social change. The research question is this: What is the role of an artist in a process of social change?
