Abstract
The present study tries to investigate in more depth the leisure lives of schoolattending adolescents in Taiwan. The extent to which these school-attending Taiwanese adolescents perceive freedom through leisure activities, experience intrinsic motivation in leisure activities, and have positive feelings about leisure will be investigated. In addition to investigating the leisure experiences of Taiwanese adolescents, perceived constraints/barriers to leisure and how these are negotiated also will be explored for the first time. Thus, an attempt will be made to identify the relevant factors that facilitate or constrain positive leisure experiences. Using this information, some implications for researchers and people who work with adolescents are expected to be derived, to improve the quality of the leisure life of Taiwanese adolescents.
